£3.8 million rural economy innovation centre set to launch

The North East Times Magazine, Insider Media and Bdaily report that a new national innovation centre set to support the UK’s rural economy will launch in the North East later this year

The National Innovation Centre for the Rural Economy (NICRE), funded by a £3.8 million grant from Research England, will be led by specialists from the universities of Newcastle, Warwick, Gloucestershire and Royal Agriculture.

The Centre will undertake research to enable the development of government policy to further support the country's rural economy.

The centre aims to bring together UK universities and commercial enterprises in order to support the country’s rural businesses and could be a key part of the recovery of the rural economy after the pandemic.
