The Rural Market Town Group is a network of rural/market Towns Councils that the Rural Services Network has brought together to enable them to specifically network and share best practice amongst these specific rural organisations. In addition, working alongside these organisations, enables the Rural Services Network to better understand key issues that these organisations face, and can more effectively represent rural issues at a national level. It is vital that rural areas have a strong voice to ensure that Government policy and decision making takes into account the specific needs and characteristics of rural communities and rural towns. We charge a very small annual subscription to a wide number of local councils across England and like all national organisations we will require continuity of support to be able to tackle the very significant task of giving English rural towns and the people who live in them, considerably more national focus to the benefit of all.Join us and you’ll be joining a network of likeminded local councils from across the country all passionate about serving rural communities. To find out more contact:

Councillor Bawden, Lyme Regis Town Council
"As a town councillor in a small coastal town with an all-year round influx of day-trippers and holiday visitors, I find the RMTG events very useful to hear up to date and relevant information on a range of topics. The group provides opportunities to share common challenges, hear about successful initiatives and feel part of a strong lobbying voice to redress the disadvantages experienced in rural and coastal areas in terms of government funding, attention and understanding.
Many thanks for your efforts to explain the challenges rural coastal and market towns are facing and for the strong representations to government for a fairer deal on our behalf. The Rural Market Towns Group is a strong voice on behalf of rural representatives. It provides excellent support, information and guidance alongside opportunities for networking, solutions-based collaboration and inspiring ideas for change."
