Call to Action: UK Farm Assurance Review Seeks Farmer Input for Future of Agriculture

Farmers across the UK are being urged to participate in the ongoing UK Farm Assurance Review. This crucial review, jointly initiated by the National Farmers' Union (NFU) and the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB), along with NFU Cymru, the Ulster Farmers' Union (UFU), and NFU Scotland (NFUS), aims to reshape farm assurance schemes for the post-Brexit era.

Led by a team of independent commissioners, including Dr. David Llewellyn, former Vice-Chancellor of Harper Adams University, the review seeks to gather comprehensive insights from all corners of the agricultural sector. The goal is to understand what works and what doesn’t within current assurance systems, ensuring that the recommendations made will enhance the operating environment for UK farmers.

A significant part of this review is a large-scale survey targeting farmer attitudes towards existing farm assurance schemes. With approximately 2,500 responses already submitted, there is still a strong need for more input. Farmers' perspectives are essential to shaping policies that reflect the realities of today’s farming challenges.

The survey, which is set to close on 31st August, is a vital opportunity for farmers to voice their opinions and contribute to the future of farm assurance in the UK. The Commissioners are also engaging with stakeholders across the supply chain through meetings at agricultural shows and events over the summer.

We encourage all farmers to take a few moments to complete the survey and ensure their voices are heard. Your participation is crucial in helping to create a more effective and supportive assurance framework for the future.
