Coronavirus: 'Stay at home' plea as Easter holiday starts

People are being warned to stay away from England's rural beauty spots amid the coronavirus lockdown, despite expected warm weather over this weekend and as Easter approaches, according to the BBC

Despite a ‘dramatic reduction’ in tourist visits already, pleas have been issued from the Yorkshire Dales and Peak District down to the south coast.

Local residents are insisting that travel to holiday homes by the coast are not essential travel and put rural medical supplies at risk.

This comes as Health Secretary Matt Hancock has said it was an instruction and ‘not a request’ to stay home this bank holiday weekend.
