In this week’s spotlight, we are thrilled to introduce three speakers who will bring their expertise to the forefront of our discussions.

Martin Collett - Chief Executive, English Rural

Martin Collett, the Chief Executive of English Rural, will be a key speaker at the Rural Affordable Housing & Planning session on Tuesday, 17th September from 10:00 to 12:00. Martin brings extensive experience in rural affordable housing, having spent over 25 years working to provide affordable homes in rural areas. His leadership at English Rural has been pivotal in addressing the housing challenges faced by rural communities, ensuring that sustainable and affordable housing solutions are available. Attendees can look forward to Martin’s deep insights into rural housing policy and practical approaches to delivering housing that meets the needs of rural populations.

Vicky Hicks - Head of Engagement, Digital Voice Programme, BT

Vicky Hicks, Head of Engagement for BT’s Digital Voice Programme, will be sharing her expertise at the Rural Connectivity session on Tuesday, 17th September from 13:30 to 15:30. Vicky plays a crucial role in ensuring that rural communities stay connected in the digital age, overseeing initiatives that bring advanced communication technologies to underserved areas. Vicky’s work with BT has been instrumental in bridging the digital divide, making sure that rural areas are not left behind as technology advances. Vicky’s session will provide valuable information about the digital switchover of the telephone lines ensuring that delegates are aware of what it means for users of the landline in rural communities.

Donna Chapman - Development Manager, NHS Cornwall & Isles of Scilly

Donna Chapman, the Development Manager for NHS Cornwall & Isles of Scilly, will speak at the Rural Health & Care session on Thursday, 19th September from 10:00 to 12:00. Donna has been at the forefront of improving health services in rural areas, working to adapt healthcare delivery to meet the unique needs of rural populations. Her experience in managing healthcare projects in remote areas makes her a valuable voice in discussions about rural health and care. Participants will benefit from Donna’s expertise on how to navigate the complexities of rural healthcare, ensuring that even the most isolated communities receive quality health services.
