NHS England – South West is one of seven regional teams for England. We cover the Bath area, Wiltshire, Bristol, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Cornwall and Isles of Scilly, Devon and Dorset.

Our work involves supporting the seven Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) and 22 NHS trusts in the South West, to ensure that together they provide services that meet the needs of patients, in line with the priorities of NHS England nationally.

We do this by providing professional leadership and oversight for the local NHS. This spans everything from nursing, medical and other clinical issues, to workforce, commissioning, digital transformation, assurance and delivery.

While most hospital and primary care – GP, dental, pharmacy and optometry – is commissioned for their local populations by the seven ICSs, NHS England retains responsibility for commissioning some specialised healthcare services across the South West.
