STAKEHOLDERS are invited to attend a major conference to discuss ways of delivering effective rural health services.

The third Rural Health Conference is being held on 11 June at the Health and Wellbeing Innovation Centre, Truro, Cornwall.

Conference speakers include national commentators and leading health professionals who will examine issues and challenges in relation to rural health.

The keynote address will be given by Public Health England chief executive Duncan Selbie, who will talk about achieving excellence in promoting public health across rural communities.

Lord Cameron, author of the recently published rural proofing review, will talk from a personal perspective and highlight lessons for a new government and those working in rural health and social care.

Professor Alison Marshall, University of Cumbria, will discuss whether digital technologies can help make good rural health.

She will look at the experience of the Cumbria Rural Health Forum - a partnership of public, private and voluntary sector professionals.

Ann Wagner, of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, will look at how a general district hospital in Yorkshire is transforming end of life care for rural communities.

Afternoon sessions will be given over to workshops addressing a range of rural health issues.

The conference comes amid warnings from MPs that it is becoming increasingly difficult to fund rural healthcare.
