In Yorkshire a survey of 38 schools found that 76 per cent had concerns about balancing their budgets over the next three years.
Shropshire Council is part of f40, a group representing 41 local authorities that receive ‘historically low’ rates of education funding. f40 has been campaigning for over 20 years to ‘address some of the historic inequities in funding between schools in different parts of the country’.
It notes that, in largely rural areas, school funding issues are particularly exacerbated despite the Government saying that ‘since 2017, we have given every local authority more money for every pupil in every school and made funding fairer across the country’.
