The day of action was organised by the Country Land and Business Association (CLA), and resulted in a call for the Government to commit to the Enterprising Countryside Charter.
The Charter includes a five-point plan for rural business growth post-Brexit: rural roaming between networks, new Rural Enterprise Frameworks local business support and Rural Enterprise Plans to ensure a consistent planning system.
It also calls for the Government to update the criteria defining a ‘sustainable village’ and to extend the remit of the Minister with responsibility for rural business across the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
